Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the incidence and the influencing factors of sensory integration dysfunction(SID) among the school-age children in the urban area of Jingjiang. 【Methods】593 children aged 6~11 years from two urban primary schools in Jingjiang were investigated with child integration scale, Rutter’s children behavior questionnaire (parent version), Conners Forms and self-made questionnaire on influencing factors. 【Results】The total SID rate was 31.5%, among which 22.6% was slight and 8.9% serious. The rate of boys (35.4%) was higher than that of girls (27.9%) (χ2=3.909,P<0.05). The total rate of behavior problems was 27.8%. The SID rate of children with behavior problems was significantly higher than that of children without behavior problems (P<0.01). The Logistic Regression analysis showed that the main risk factors were premature delivery, non-breast-feeding, hyperactivity before the age of one, bad fellowship, hyperactivity in relatives’ children, low academic records, incapability of accomplishing school tasks independently. 【Conclusion】Sensory integration dysfunction is a result of multiple factors including children’s behavior, school, family and environmental factors. Parents and teachers should pay more attention to prevent it earlier. |
