Objective: This study aims to systematically analyze the research status, hotspots, and frontier trends in the field of nutrition in esophageal cancer through bibliometric methods, providing a reference for future research in this area. Methods: Relevant literature on nutrition in esophageal cancer from the inception of the Web of Science Core Collection database up to 2025 was retrieved. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using Excel 2019, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the “Bibliometrix” R package(R-Studio). Co-occurrence, clustering, and burst analysis of keywords were performed to construct visual knowledge maps, revealing the research dynamics in this field. Results: A total of 787 articles were included, with the overall publication volume showing an upward trend from 1978 to 2024. China ranked first in terms of publication volume, while cooperation between China and the United States was the most frequent in this field. The National Cancer Institute of the United States and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences demonstrated outstanding performance in both publication output and citation frequency. William J. Blot was identified as one of the most influential scholars in this field, and publications related to 《Diseases of the Esophagus》 had the highest publication volume. Keyword analysis identified 16 main clusters, covering weight management, nutritional intervention, stress response, and other aspects. Burst analysis revealed “sarcopenia”“malnutrition” and “quality of life” as current research frontiers and hotspots. Conclusion: The visualization analysis comprehensively presents the research status, hotspots, and frontier trends in the field of nutrition for esophageal cancer, providing an important reference for future research. This field is currently in a stage of rapid development, and future studies could further focus on the exploration and implementation of precise intervention strategies. |
