Objective: To study the expression changes of Nod-like receptor pyrin domain 3(NLRP3) and cytokines related to alveolar bone resorption in the pathological process of periodontitis. Methods: All the data was collected from January 2018 to December 2020. 75 patients diagnosed as chronic periodontitis were selected as case group, 75 patients who needed tooth extraction because of other diseases were selected as control group. Before the tooth extraction, gingival crevicular fluid and appropriate amount of periodontal membrane tissues were collected to detect the changes of NLRP3 and cytokines. Results: The mRNA expression of NLRP3, caspase-1, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD(ASC) and interleukin(IL)-1β in the case group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01);Also levels of high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1), IL-17, intercellular adhesion molecule 1(ICAM1) in the case group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.01). Compared with the control group,levels of osteoprotegerin(OPG) and runt related transcription factor-2(Runx2)in case group decreased(P<0.05), while matrix metalloproteinases 9(MMP9),N-telopeptides of type I collagen(NTX) and receptor activator of NF-κB ligand(RANKL) increased(P<0.05). Conclusion: NLRP3 inflammatory bodies are activated in patients. The imbalance of alveolar osteogenesis and osteoclasts is involved in the pathological process of periodontitis. |
