Objective: To investigate the correlation between adiponectin and free fatty acids and type 2 diabetes mellitus with acute coronary syndrome. Methods: Hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicate with acute coronary syndrome (observation group, n=60), type 2 diabetes mellitus group (no acute coronary syndrome, n=60), acute coronary syndrome group (no type 2 diabetes mellitus, n=60), and normal control group (no type 2 diabetes mellitus and no acute coronary syndrome, n=60) were selected. General data of the enrolled subjects were collected and the concentrations of adiponectin and free fatty acids were determined by ELISA. Meanwhile, the Gensini score of coronary artery sclerosis was calculated by coronary angiography. Results: Serum adiponectin levels in the observation group were lower than those in the type 2 diabetes group, the acute coronary syndrome group and the normal control group. The free fatty acid level in the observation group was higher than that in the acute coronary syndrome group, higher than that in the type 2 diabetes group, and significantly higher than that in the normal control group. Adiponectin levels were associated with cardiac troponin I, type 2 diabetes, fasting glucose, HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, free fatty acids, and Gensini scores. Free fatty acids were associated with cardiac troponin I, type 2 diabetes, fasting glucose, HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, adiponectin, and Gensini scores. Conclusion: Serum adiponectin and free fatty acid levels are correlated with coronary artery disease and blood glucose. |
