Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression levels of interleukin-6(IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in seminal plasma of infertile men with leukocytospermia. Methods:A total of 85 cases of infertile men treated in hospital from March 2016 to October 2017 were divided into three observation groups, i.e., leukocytospermia patients with normal semen parameters(observation group 1,27 cases), leukocytospermia patients with abnormal semen parameters(observation group 2,30 cases) and oligospermia patients(observation group 3,28 cases). Twenty fertile males were selected as control group. The levels of sex hormones, semen volume, sperm density, sperm activity rate, sperm malformation rate, leucocyte numbers in seminal plasma, reactive oxygen species(ROS), IL-6 and TNF-α expression were detected in each group. Results:The total number of sperm, sperm concentration and ratio of sperm forward movement in the three observation groups were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.001), and the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in seminal plasma of the observation groups were significantly increased(P<0.05). The expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, and the ROS level in seminal plasma of leukocytospermia group were significantly higher than those of non-leukocytospermia group (P<0.05). The expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in seminal plasma were positively correlated with the number of leukocytes(r=0.631, P<0.001 and r=0.762, P<0.001).Conclusion:The increased expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in seminal plasma are closely associated with male infertility and leucocyte numbers, which can be used as clinical indicators for the diagnosis and treatment of leukocytospermia.
