Abstract Objective: To examine the prevalence changes of diabetes mellitus (DM) and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) of the health check-up subjects in 2006 and 2013 years in Quanzhou. Methods: A total of 31438 of health check-up subjects were selected from 2006 and 2013. According to Chinese sex and age structure of China Population Statistics Yearbook 2006．sex and age standardized DM and standardized IFG were computed．Results the prevalence of diabetes mellitus, impaired fasting glucose (IFG) in 2006 and 2013 in Quanzhou were 2.88%, 5.86% and 10.27%, 29.81%. The prevalence of age and sex standardized of DM and IFG in 2006 and 2013 were 2.52%, 4.70% and 8.90% and 25.12%. The prevalence of DM and IFG were increase with age, and male were higher than female (p<0.05). Conclusion the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and impaired fasting glucose were higher, the diabetes mellitus education and popularization the prevention knowledge in this area was needed to be strengthened which can early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment.
