Objective: We investigated the occurrence of depressive disorders in MUS outpatients, coming from neurological department of Ganyu Hospital. Methods: 251 MUS outpatients was evaluated using the patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), who got a score of more than 5 was considered having depressive symptoms. A psychiatrist interviewed with these patients using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), and depressive disorders were diagnosed if they met the DSM-IV criterions. Results: 52.98% MUS outpatients had depressive symptoms, the occurrence of depressive symptoms is 41.57% in male MUS patients, and 59.25% in female, and the differences of occurrences between genders is significant. 29.48% MUS outpatients met the DSM-IV criterions of depressive disorders. The occurrence of depressive disorders is 24.72% in male MUS patients and 32.10% in female, and the occurrences between genders is significant. The occurrences of depressive disorders between different somatic symptoms in MUS outpatients have no significant differences. Conclusion: depressive disorders is common in MUS outpatients from Neurological Department of General Hospital, and it is much more common in female than male. |
