【Objective】To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum glypican-3(GPC3) for primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).【Methods】Serum levels of GPC3 and α-fetoprotein(AFP) were measured in 35 HCC, 32 liver cirrhosis patients and 50 health by ELISA method.【Results】The serum GPC3 levels were 4.16±2.35 ng/ml,3.13±1.19 ng/ml,1.92±1.23ng/ml in HCC, liver cirrhorsis group and health group respectively, and there was a significant diffrence between HCC group and the other two groups. The area under the ROC curve of GPC3 was 0.789 while AFP was 0.803; the GPC3`s sensitivity and specificity for HCC were 82.8% and 56.5%, while AFP were 62.8% and 78.9%. when combined GPC3 and AFP, the sensitivity and specificity were 91.4% and 45.6%.GPC3`s positive incidence(11/14) was higher than AFP`s(4/14) in Ⅰ+Ⅱ grade HCC group. 【Conclusion】The GPC3 protein is a sensitive and specific serum marker for diagnosis of HCC, and it may provide a novel diagnosis and research tool for HCC. |
