[Abstract]Objective:To evaluate the continuous glucose monitoring on hypoglycaemia reaction in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients(T2DM)with HbA1c<6.5%.Methods: 87 cases of T2DM undergoing insulin intensification therapy with HbA1c<6.5%were randomly divided into continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS) group and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) group. The blood glucose levels of the CGMS group were monitored continuously using CGMS for 72 hours. The blood glucose levels of the SMBG group were monitored using finger tip blood glucose meters eight times a day for three days.Hypoglycemia, especially asymptomatic hypoglycemia’s detection rate was compared between two groups. Results:12 patients had hypoglycemia(16 times) and 4 of them had asymptomatic hypoglycemia(5 times) in SMBG group during three days. While 29 patients had hypoglycemia(108 times) and 19 of them had asymptomatic hypoglycemia(47 times) in CGMS group during 72 hours. Hypoglycemia was found more frequently in the night and more common in course of more than 10 years of patients. Conclusion:CGMS was a better method on detecting hypoglycemia, especially asymptomatic hypoglycemia in T2DM patients treated with insufin intensification therapy |
